codeshare upgrade success

Maybe this isn't new, but here's my datapoint:

(I know codeshares violate the FT code of conduct, but the ticket was booked through work TA)

UA ticket/flight # on CO metal, USA-EWR-EDI, Y class ticket. CO website offered the chance to UG to BizFirst both ways for 15,000 miles x 2 plus $61 in taxes. Jumped on it, and outbound cleared at -24 hours and return cleared at gate. Great ride in the CO lieflat on their 757. Great service, great food.

Is this new? Was this a *A upgrade, or just a "new United" UG?

Sound like it is a long nice international route? Seem like a good deal. What route is it?

I think since it was a Y ticket, you were able to mix the combination of *A rules and the merging of the two systems in terms of miles. But who knows?
