Question Did I get soft landing from 1K?

When do I find out if I got soft landing from 1K? I didn't come close to 1P even this year, but I was hoping that instead of dropping me to 2P, they'll soft-land me at 1P for a year. The MP website says nothing about my 2011 status. Where do I find out? Thanks!

You need to call or wait till Feb 1.

UA rarely does soft landings for 1Ks and instead offers challenges / buy ups.

Yes, and there are reports in this forum of other FT being asked $1000 to keep 1K for the following year. So pretty much unlikely.

To our delight UA just soft landed my SO from 1K to 2P. Due to family reasons she only had 19K last year so this helps a lot. ^
She was offered $499 1K challenge but 25K in 3 month is not feasible for her now.

Hi

I got my card in the mail today , plain Premier down from 1K

only flew 16K in 2010 and was expecting no status,

I also got the $499 - 25K miles to buy into 1K for 2011 and will probably do that

So thanks United , you will be getting some $$$$ from me soon

If I were offered $499 plus 25K to retain 1K, then I'd bite. But my offer was $999 plus 35K miles, which is much more costly.

Alas....

Darn, having just flown what will likely have been my last-ever flight as a 1K, I mis-read your post to mean that $499 and 25k of banked RDMs would qualify for 1K.

25k in 3 months at this time of year wuold be tough. 15k, sure. Kind of a relief. I really don't have the $499 to spend right now.

Who is getting this 25k and $499 offer?

Do you have to be close to 100k miles to get this? I had the 35k / $999 and have been 1k for a decade so they clearly don't think much of me for only doing 55k miles last year.

I was FAR away, I only flew 16k paid but 50k saver FF tickets in 2010,

and you have to do the 25k miles in 90 days so not so bad, I have a MR in 2 weeks and an Asia flight I was going to take anyway in 6 weeks.

here s the thread
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...ssion-etc.html

the logic of $499 or $999 escapes me , but I am happy because 25k is doable , and 35K is not for me.

Can anyone crack the code to explain why some get the much cheaper/easier $499 and 25K EQM vs $999 and 35K EQM? Is it the same offer except the $$$ and EQM terms, i.e., 1K for 2011 as soon as you hit the mileage mark, meaning 6 SWUs good for 12 months thereafter?

Just spoke to MP, who said Marketing decided it on basis of EQM in 2010, in another words how many miles you missed by. I think I flew less than 5K last year, so way, way off. Others saying they flew 16K or 19K and got the $499/25K offer. Anybody get the $499/25K with still fewer miles in 2010?

For those who opt to chase 1K through the buy-into offer will they also receive 6 SWU's if they had achieved 1K another way?

Thanks.

Because all 1K's are equal, but some are more equal than others...

I got a soft landing today in the form of a 2P card showing up unexpectedly in the mail. Would have been a GM otherwise. I've been 1K for the past 5 years or so and I also received the $499, fly 25K EQM offer. (Which is tempting, but in reality doesn't make sense since my flying patterns have changed...)

Guess I need to change my FT signature in about a week...

Question

Does anyone know this: if I accept the 1K challenge by paying the $999 fee and flying 35,000 EQMs in the next however many days, then do the same EQMs still count toward my re-qualification for the next year?

So many unanswered questions.

Thanks,

BCH
