UA used to fly to Athens!!! Last time was something like 9 years ago. I flew UA from Athens to Paris and on to the US back in 1994. (After having flown to Europe on SFO-IAD, IAD-FCO-MXP all on UA.)

It would certainly be nice if UA at least resumed some service to Italy. suzy1k, are you really flying to some of these "new" destinations on UA???

Unexpected! I heard EDI. Nice for touring and Golfing Vacations. Subject to Government backing and support etc.</font>
EDI very unlikely unfrotunately. Continental are starting EDI-EWR in the summer and I don't think we have the potential passenger traffic for two transatlantic services so BAA probably wouldn't allow it.

That said - UAL in EDI would be marvelous!

TXL (Berlin)? ZRH (Zurich)? Maybe back to MXP (Milan) or DUS (Dusseldorf)? Why not GVA (Geneva) or Madrid (MAD)?

There are some great options out there!

BD flies to 5 or so destinations from EDI, which could permit some nice connections. Personally, I'd love to see UA serve LYS but that would be quite a reach.

I just read something today on our internal website. Athens is a no. There will be charters I'm sure, but no scheduled service except through Star Alliance.</font>
Liz, if Athens is a "no", would you be able to mention any *possible* "yes" locations? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Nice would be nice, Barcelona would be perfect...

Doesn't Delta fly IAD-TXL? I'd love to see ORD-TXL, but that's dreaming...

Unfortunately, there are no U.S.-TXL flights at all. LH ran an IAD-TXL flight for a few months (and marketed it the heck out of it -- "connecting two capitals" etc.). But that was axed around 9/11, I think. Reports I've heard indicated that loads were disappointing.

That would be a BOLD move.

No one has answered the question:
What about the more than $1/2 BILLION United has contributed part of to the building of the new Concourse J (Star Alliance terminal)?? It' scheduled to open in 2006...

Would be nice for United to start serving the leisure Euro market... i.e. Rome, Madrid, Athens, etc. I agree with the requirement for a two-class aircraft. However, I think Athens is quite a challenge, as they have horrendous security issues. </font>
Delta and Olympic don't seen to have any problems, why would UAL?
