1K without doing international travel

It appears many 1k's make that level flying many international trips, I was wondering how many 1ker's make that level doing just all domestic travel? I happen to one of them, not too sure if I'll make 1K this year, as I have spread my travel over other airlines. I might have to do a MR or two.

Last year, I hit about ~300k EQM, all domestic. It can be done. It's not pretty, but it can be done.

I am sure plenty 1Ks qualified by segments, few of my co-workers fly msp-ord-bwi every week.

I'm a domestic only 1k in all my years as a 1k except last year, when the international fares were low and I took advantage of it.

I hit 125K last year flying coast to coast 1 to 3 times a month plus a vacation flight or two to see the mother-in-law.

My first year of heading towards 1K status had me looking for any segment to gain more miles. Finally at the end of the year I offered to my wife to fly out to Chicago to "escort my 80 year old mother-in-law home for Christmas. Hit 1K and made a lot of brownie points from my wife and mother-in-law. She even paid me for my ticket. Oh the sacrifices we make

I had just over 150,000 EQM's in 2009 with one paid SYD trip. The past 5 years I've been 1K only on domestic, and usually on miles not segments although this year my segments nearly match my EQM's. I'll probably do 115,000 domestic EQM's this year.

It is probably easier on EQS than EQM as the latter would require several equivalent of coast-to-coast flights...

"Up in the Air" with G. Clooney comes to mind...

I have been 1K for the last 4 years and have only done domestic travel. Sometimes with EQM and sometimes with EQS. Depends on where I traveled for project work each year.

First time i made 1k was domestic, that year i made it on EQM and EQS. It was pure hell. Now its 90% international and takes me 4 months. But i know there are some serious George Clooney road warriors on here.

Add Me To The List

Add me to the list - 4 years of 1K on EQM (not counting promotions) all domestic - I probably was traveling about 45 weeks a year averaging 1500 per flight. I've been working from home for about 7 weeks now, so don't know if I'll make it this year.

That's just crazy. I feel the life drained out of me on 150k EQM years (not including any DEQM for this comparison, of course). A few years like that and you won't remember where your home is, who your family is, nor will it matter!
