Problem joining Mileage Plus

Hi all,

I've tried a number of times today to sign up for Mileage Plus, but each time I get this error:

We were unable to process your request. The system is currently unavailable or the internet service is experiencing heavy traffic. Please try your request later.

I don't imagine that any of the regulars on this forum would have tried joining recently, but does anyone know whether this problem has happened before, or if I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks for any tips.

Tim.

Hi Tim!

United.com frequently has errors like this, which is one of the reasons we refer to it as .bomb

You should give it one more try, and if it still doesn't work, maybe try in the morning. .bomb has been really strange lately, so I wouldn't be surprised if one of the latest "enhancements" caused it to act like this..

Close browser and re-open. Try another browser. UA really shoots themselves in the foot with this crap website.

Thanks for all the tips; unfortunately, none of them worked, so I've given up on .bomb.

So I've gone and done the next best thing, and joined Continental's OnePass. It doesn't make much difference to me as I only have a couple of AirNZ flights to credit -- I just wanted to make sure the miles went somewhere. My main program is QFF -- am I even allowed to mention that on this forum?

Anyway, OnePass and Mileage Plus may be one and the same thing before too long anyway, right?

Thanks again,

Tim.

Hi Tim, just make sure you actually get credit for the fare class. For UA, the earnings rate for Air NZ is documented here:

As you can see, some don't earn anything. Not sure about CO.
