Is Ted really that cheap?
Dear FT talkers,
I am debating whether to celebrate the arrival of Ted with United on Feb, 04! Well I guess I will start from checking the fare...
I plan to fly just OW (since no need for RT purchase) from LAS to FLL via DEN and then catch a B6 flight back to New York.
But the ticket price amounts to $269 on Orbitz. It is really not that cheap. (especially one can fly DL or NW F for $354OW)
Maybe I will just fly a shorter segment...
Just make me wonder is Ted really a no-frill product? But I guess the strenght of Ted will be on the last minute travel segment.
Anyone flying the inaugural?

There was actually an article in today's USAToday checking fares on Ted from Denver on 8 routes. Out of those 8, Ted was lowest on only one of them, the route to Tampa.

I thought the other interesting this was the difference between the travel sites.

Ted's a low-cost carrier, not a low-price carrier.

Isn't the real advantage of TED that you will be able to get last minute fares on it discounTED?
It's really not fair to compare flights months from now, when one of the benefits is that you get low cost fares just a few weeks before, if that is part of the program.

While this is nowhere near the inaugural flight, I priced LAX-LAS in July on Ted (incidently ual.com says Operated by United for Ted) at $134.00. When I checked SNA-LAX-LAS on the same flights plus EMB-120s, it priced out at... $134.00!
Now THAT's a competitive price, compared to what I've seen on mainline UA SNA-LAX-LAS in the past.
