Following up to my ealier email, I am trying to put my butt on a seat... so I plan to buy a W class tix SFO-CDG. Are these tickets upgradeable?

They are with a sweet spot, but not with a 2003 SWU or miles.

When is the flight?

Unless the fare rules explicitly state otherwise, W fares are upgradeable with 2004 Systemwide Upgrades.

That's only IF you have Sweet Spots. If it turns out you didn't, then you can count on being in the worst possible spot in economy. They're not going to simply op upgrade you because you made a so-called "oopsie."
