How does MM status affect upgrade priority?

Would a 1K MM flyer have a higher priority on an upgrade waitlist than a 1K?

Would a 1P MM flyer have a higher priority on an upgrade waitlist than a 1K?

Thanks

I think that the consensus on this was that MM doesn't show up on the DM. So, when computers are solely involved, it won't make a bit of difference. But, when a GA is involved, they may give a MM flyer more priority--but probably not 1P MM over 1K.

From my experience, MM status does nothing.

Been a MM about 3 years ago (1K every year), when I was in Tokyo with my associate earlier this year, we were both placed on DM list at the same time for UG. He is 1K but his surname starts with "D". My surname starts with "K". He got his UG cleared, I didn't.

I agree that MM status doesnt' show up on the DM, but in terms of WL clearance before one gets to the airport, it IS considered to some extent on the PA/PB lists.

Here's what I have been told by MP: Assuming that 2 1K's have 1) same fare basis, and 2) same YTD flight miles....the "tiebreaker" is Life to Date flight miles......
So, in "some" sense, those of you who are already MM fliers could get upgraded first!

Best wishes, Dave

You should have put 'APFlyer' on your boarding pass then.

Were y'all on the same fare basis?

Did your associate check in immediately before you (and thus get on the DM list first)?

Yes we were! Both on 'H', but separate PNRs. We both checked in at SEA and placed on the DM literally minutes apart. (I didn't check whether my DM time stamp was earlier.)

All the priorities and rules don't mean a thing if the agent doesn't care. It still pays to be a bit pushy and ask often.

Since the priority is supposed to go:
Status
Fare Basis
Time on DM list

If your associate went on the DM first (even by a minute) that would be a legitimate tie-breaker.

Without this piece of data there's no reason to believe anything improper occurred.

Now, I don't actually know what the tie-breaker is for same status, same fare basis, and exact same time on the DM list. Maybe it's alphabetical. Maybe random. I just have no idea.

Remember that your dealing with a computer database, so one of them has to be in there first, it's simply not possible for them to tie. One will be there first.

True, but isn't DM time stamped on BP in HH:MM, which means there's a possibility two could appear to be added at the same MM? We need one of the regular GAs on this board to give the final word I think on this issue...
