US Open

As some of you know, United sponsors the US Open and generally has a booth with a giveway.

2 years ago, you got a coupon (15% off I think), some luggage tags, a chance to win a trip, and a stylus/pen for Premiers.

Last year it was a sad "get your photo taken with a cardboard John McEnroe."

This year the USTA has more info online and it says that United will be giving away 10% off domestic e-certs and a US Open pin. (They are also letting people check-in at the booth with the new web-based check-in. Wonder if they've installed the new gate readers at LGA yet.)

Enjoy,

Click on the "Booths" menu button, then scroll down and check the United box.

Do they have the same restrictions as the Entertainment 15% coupons?

No. They are far better. They can be used on international and domestic fares, whereas the Entertainment coupons are only good on domestic itineraries. They are good for a 15% discount from gateways, where the Entertainment coupons only give a 5% discount from gateways.

The USTA magazine is available by subscription only. You might check your local tennis club. You also can get a junior subscription for $15. While it won't do any good for this issue, another FTer reports that UA runs the coupons in two of the 4 USTA issues a year. USTA inserted 4 coupons in each of the spring and fall issues this year.

I stopped by the booth yesterday. The 10% e-cert is for domestic use only. If you'd like the code, please drop me an email.

There are also copies of USTA magazine, with 4 of the UA 15% off coupons inside, at the USTA Membership booth. You can also do a first-time membership for $20/year there too.

Sorry - SanDiego1K. Have a friend who gets the magazine & doesn't fly UA, so will see if I can get it from him. Just wanted to make sure I asked for the correct issue.

I picked up a few of these 10 off certs last week. It seems the code is the same on all of them.

Domestic travel 9/15-12/15 2003 in Economy class. fares H Q or V. I can be e mailed for the #.

The giveaway is a small pin that says United, with a tennis ball in motion.

I have a couple extras if you're a tennis buff.

Just cause it finally dawned on me this weekend while looking at it again, it is the US Open logo.
