Not sure if this one counts. I ended up getting rebooked this morning after missing my connection. When I rebooked I requested the upgrade for the flight, it cleared at the gate almost immediately. Everything was mute though because after the aircraft boarded and we pushed off from gate we didn't get past the tarmac as we ended up have a mechanical issue; had to return to the gate and the flight ended up being cancelled. None the less I did get the upgrade, I just couldn't use it :(

I wonder whether some of the reported failures are due to rez made pre-3/19 not getting the request added automatically...by now most UA FTers are probably aware of the issue (I had to call and have the request added to a couple of pre-3/19 rez, post 3/19 rez went "upgrade pending" automatically)
Although most UA FTers who read the forum are probably aware that you need to call in about the pre-3/19 rez (until or unless UA has finally fixed that glitch), it might be useful for the OP to solicit the date of rez and if pre-3/19 whether the call was made...(just call me compulsive) |

Routing: ORD-DFW Date/Time: 3.22 / 9:46A FLT: 819 Airframe: 319 When Cleared: did not clear 5/30 on waitlist with F checked in full. Monday morning is not the best time to be testing this, as its prime time. Based on those numbers, I wouldn't even have cleared if it was a 320 with 12 F seats. Ouch. Additional data point, I was on a cheap U fare. |
Three more data points for my staff (separate PNRs)

Also, when I check the morning of the flight I see all seats filled. They usually leave a couple seats for buy-ups to F until the gate. |

Routing: ORD-LAX Date/Time: 3/22 @ 8:01 AM FLT: 842 Fare Class: V Airframe: A320 When Cleared: Did not clear 12/53 on waitlist with 2 F seats remaining. They didn't hand out the remaining two seats until boarding started. My standard Monday morning flight from ORD-LAX is usually the earlier one, so I'm not sure if it is status quo to have so many elites. I typically got 90% success rate before UDU, so will be interesting to report about the 6:30 AM flight next week. The reservation was ticketed prior to 3/19 and I did not call to request the upgrade and it did not show as waitlisted prior to the flight. Naturally I called 1k line on Friday to find out what the deal was and was told that "there already has been a request made on your behalf due to the UDU program". Good nugget of additional information from 1K line, CR-1's and SWU take precedence over UDU even when there is a waitlist and/or under airport control. I will test this theory using CR-1 on flight back to ORD this week (currently waitlisted). |

Call 1k, and they processed the upgrade immediately. Using the seatmaps in UA.com, there are 5/8 remaining spots on the outbound, and 5/6 spots remaining on the return left. |
The 1K percentage is pretty scary.

Until we get several month's worth of statistics, we really can't tell much. There are more 1K's than anybody (at least it seems) that post in this forum so we need to wait for the 1P and 2P stats to build up as well.
