I think it's a fair discussion topic.
I imagine that the carrier that buys UA's gates at a particular hub would strongly consider buying the RCC(s) too. The club would be rebranded, of course.
If UA goes ch 7, your RCC membership and miles are in danger. Some carrier might act as a white knight to get your loyalty, though.

If UAL liquidates can I still fly em?
If UAL liquidates will my wife & I loose our 3,000,000 "MP" miles?
If UAL liquidates can I still upgrade?
If UAL liquidates can I still go to the closed CTO'S?
If UAL liquidates do I still have to purchase an H fare to use my SWU"S?
If my wife and I go to LHR today, will we ever return?
If UAL liquidates can I still enter the RCC?
I apologize for being so straight forward, but all these "doom & gloom" "the skies falling" posts are serving no purpose but to "freak out" people more than they already are by turning on "CNN".

When it's doom and gloom (and UA just announced "temporary" closure of the Indianapolis maintenance center), it's time....to have fun!<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by TUFBEAR:

In the spirit of TUFBEAR's post:
--If UAL liquidates, will they still have those cool upper deck business seats on their 747's?
--If UAL liquidates, what will happen to United Shuttle?
--If UAL liquidates, will the baggage system at DIA get better?
--If UAL liquidates, what should I do with my 1P card?
--If UAL liquidates, will Frontier come in and pick up the entire 1,600 flight a day schedule?
--If UAL liquidates, can I still listen to channel 9?
--If UAL liquidates, will they move DIA back to Stapleton?
--If UAL liquidates, do you think the wait times on the res numbers will increase?
--If UAL liquidates, can I have one of those UA logos behind the counter?

For some reason, I am reminded of a post on these boards from a day or so back:

ozstamps, I find your reply quite offensive- I do regularly read FT and know that that the nature of the relationship of the RCC with UAL has not been the topic of numerous recent posts. Furthermore, the question I asked was no more "gloom and doom" than the MAJORITY of recent posts about burning miles and questions about BK. It seems that emotions are running high these days-
I have been a loyal UA flyer and a 1 K for several years and am worried too - but do you have to be condescending and rude as well?

Agreed! This IS a valid discussion topic. If you don't like it, or don't have anything to contribute, please DON'T respond!<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by bxwatso:

No one is forcing you to reply to this thread.
Getting back to the topic, I think that what bxwatso said is accurate.
Only if the RCC's are taken over by another entity and whether or not they decide to honor your membership, will you have an idea of whether or not your membership will be honored.
Are you a lifetime member? Or just an annual one? If you're on an annual membership, then your losses will be minimal if the RCC does fold with UA.

Slightly off topic, but this post made me think of it. This morning my son Peregrine had a flight out of SEA and I drove him to the airport. Along the way, he asked me if he could get through the express security line with his AS MVP Gold card. He went on to tell me that when UA filed Chapter 11, he cut up his 1P card and used the pieces for guitar picks.
