Prem Exec Bonus Timing
I just travelled MXP-SFO-SYD, starting as a Premier with about 43,000 status miles.
The first flight (6,000 miles) would have pushed me to about 49,000 status miles, and then the second flight (7,400 miles) to 56,400 status miles.
However the flights appear to have been posted into MP in the opposite order, so that the SFO-SYD flight only earned 25% bonus but pushed me up to a Premier Exec, then the MXP-SFO flight posted with a 100% bonus.
What should have happened? Should I technically have only gotten 25% bonus on both flights? Does crossing the boundary on a flight entitle that flight to the greater bonus?
Cheers,
lc1.

I'd keep quiet about it to be honest ... I suspect you got lucky? AFAIK, your first flight AFTER you got to SYD entitled you to the 100% bonus, as a newly minted 1P. No matter what, your return from SYD will get you the 100% bonus on all UA flights.
I got off a SFO-SYD today but MP statement says I flew SFO-SYD October 25, and then MIA-SFO October 25. Had I been in your deal I imagine I'd be showing 2505 x 100% and not 2505 x 25%.

I believe in instances like this where same day travel is involved (eg: Oct 25 MXP-SFO, SFO-SYD) the computer will order flights in ascending flight number sequence (thus your 863 SFO-SYD is a lower flight # than the 9xx for MXP-SFO)... thus, the transpac credits before the transatlantic. This is what I have noticed over the years, anyway.
ie: the computer is sometimes a dumbass about actual routings.
I agree, I'd keep quiet and just let it credit that way - after all you earned a few bonus miles you wouldn't have got if the order had gone the other way.

That does seem the logical answer Richard.
My SFO-SYD was #863 and MIA-SFO was #872 but computer cleverly decided that SFO-SYD preceded that connecting flight.

It depends on the posting date, not the date that is shown. If flight B posts first, then flight A will get the bonus.
Even if you have two flights on the same day, they might not Post on the same day. Usually they do post on the same day, but not always.
After they both post, you will see the flight with the lower flight number listed first for that day, even though the second flight only has the 25% bonus.

Out of interest, and another vagary of the UA computer, looking at statement just now I noticed my MX flights posted OUT of numerical order on same day, and OUT of sequence of actual flying but the UA flights posted in strict UA numerical flight number order, i.e. it thinks I flew LAX-SFO *before* I arrived in USA etc.
12-Oct-02 UA 0095 F Class LAX to SFO 500 500 1000
12-Oct-02 UA 0816 C Class SYD to LAX 7487 7487 14974

It also happened to some UA flights. Maybe there is a field behind the scenes called posting date, which we don't see.
