To be on a plane for me means "relaxing". I am on the computer too much anyway as it is now, so WiFi is completely unimportant for me up there. E+ on the other hand is a definite necessity. That's where my vote goes.

Personally, no. But, live TV is.

I've been flying with Delta a lot lately for that reason.

Why not JetBlue, which has both Live TV and the same seat pitch as UA E+?

E+ over WiFi OR TV, no matter how long the domestic flight. With an iPod, DVDs, magazines, books, etc (and occasionally some work), I always fly with no shortage of things to do.

+1. I've actually started using flying time to file/delete things from my email in-box, which I don't need to have connected to accomplish.

Mine would be:
1. Available nonstop to my destination (willing to sacrifice seat for the extra 4 hours of landing, changing planes, taking off, and doubling the odds of things going wrong)
2. seat - pitch
3. seat - width
4. carry-on baggage space
5. (on intl/transcon) some access to food (free or purchased)
6. frequent access to liquids
7. IFE
8. AC power (don't need it, have batteries)
9. wifi (won't pay for it)

In fact, I sort of look forward to the ability to unplug for a few hours. No one can email, text, call, IM, tweet, etc. me. It's peaceful.

+1!

Flights are a welcome respite from e-mail and the Internet. I rarely work when I'm flying anyway, so I want the leg room of E+ if I don't get upgraded.

SFO-DEN-ISN Oct 6, 2009 4:01 pm

no...E+ is more important and who would want to sit crammed in e- or other carriers seat with their laptop jammed into their chest even if you were on the Internet!

E+!!!!!!

oly_flyer Oct 6, 2009 4:21 pm

E+ (the only reason I keep flying UA)

Or just the people with different priorities. I'm a 95% leisure traveler, but price is not my highest concern. The great advantage of being a leisure traveler is being able to pick your destinations sensibly as well. If the price is too high, I just won't go.

I would guess that the audience on this board is slightly biased. Wonder what people on the VX board would say. (Is there a VX board? :P)

Wi-Fi is a time killer on flights that I would rather have than a TV. For me, I just get onto Hulu.com and watch whatever it is I want

Random_Flyer Oct 6, 2009 5:19 pm

After a period of no travel I'm currently back on planes and focusing *ALL* travel on United just so I can requalify for E+.

Could care less about WiFi really. It'd be a nice bonus but I would never pay for it and I certainly wouldn't give up E+ for it.

I agree. I flew on Delta (ATL to PBI) and they gave me a card for free WiFi on the flight. It was amazingly fast and allowed me to do some fun stuff like surfing, watching some vids and catching up on the news and blogs. The only downside...the fact that the pitch in economy made it impossible to manipulate my 13" Macbook Pro.

My perfect world would be E+ AND WiFi. Why must it be one or the other people? Settle much?

pinniped Oct 6, 2009 7:54 pm

It will be interesting to see if any airlines really make money by installing WiFi. As a United flier, I hope they hold off on any kind of widespread rollout until the business model is more proven. I know I won't ever buy it...I don't care if it's there, I just hope UA doesn't lose money on it. I'd rather watch DL or someone like that guinea pig it.

I would personally prefer they not spend any money on IFE. Either use the cost savings to improve their general financials or perhaps spend it elsewhere on the soft product...maybe carry a drinkable wine or two in C. @:-)

E+

Simply stated WiFi would be nice, E+ is necessary for those of use at 6'4" and above.

I love being unreachable while on a flight. It's a welcome reprieve from the usual hectic schedule.
