LTGS and additional pluspoints over 1K
Modifying my post in order to elicit the information I’m seeking. Any lifetime GSers who have reached out to UA to suggest they change the rules and give PlusPoints both for hitting 1K (if you do) and for annual automatic renewal of GS? I view the either/or as a disincentive to travel and simply want to know if anyone else has looked into this (no need to clarify the rules - I’m very familiar with them). Thank you!

No, you don't earn the Plus Points twice.
If you earn status via PQP/PQF, you will earn the requisite Plus Points according to the level(s) you earned. If you do not earn Premier 1K status during the year, you will receive 280 Plus Point as a benefit of your lifetime status. Technically you do earn more points by flying, since you get the 40 points for Platinum as well as any additional milestone points (2 per 3k PQP beyond 22k).

Hi - yes, that is correct and is what I discovered (per my post). What I was hoping for was someone who had explored this question with United to see if they were open to being influenced by others in this situation. Apologies for not being more clear on my intent.

The system is very clear and the first explanation you received was wrong, If the 280 PlusPoints are not earned natively, then in January (not February) of the next year, as a LT 1K or GS, you will received 280 PlusPoints. There are no extra PlusPoints for being a GS over being 1K. Regular GS, due to spending more, tend to have more PlusPoints but even in LT status, PlusPoints beyond 280 is dependent on spend, The first explanation was wrong and the system was worked this way since the certation of LT GS.
LT status for all level has been a "floor", at guarantee of not less then a certain level of benefits. Many have asked if LT status is a new starting point and if have LT Gold, if you then have a high initial starting point and early to ear 1K or Plat and no that is not true. We all fall back to zero each year. Your "disincentive to travel" applies at all levels, but if you don't travel you don't get to use your other GS benefits. That's the incentive.

Why would you want more PP? I thought there's so many PP floating around and not enough PN/PZ space and by end of the calendar year, everyone complains how useless the benefit is and complains about how many leftover PP they have and can't use. At least that's the sentiment of this forum...

The PlusPoints advantage of lifetime GS over 1K is that GS PP clear into PN rather than PZ. This is a truly massive advantage already.

It is very simple, keep flying above 22/28k and earn more +P. Very generous from UA to offer +P for LT members in the first place, no chance they will enhance it.

for the 4 people (including Tom) that this might apply to - maybe the question is - are those PP of any real value considering the financial milestones to reach this level of living in a plane?
