Lots of train and bus strikes during that period so make sure to check the sciopero page for where you are headed.

This is my third week in Europe and I can attest that one airport chaos can have ripple effects throughout the intra-EU flights.

I have already experienced that happened at Madrid and Paris earlier and now waiting for my early morning flight to Istanbul that is currently showing delay..

FlightAware indicates DJT520 last flew on 7/16/2019 BOD (Bordeaux) - IAD.

Anyone with a Crystal ball here looking ahead to next month? How far in advance are these strikes posted?
Also can a mod move this to the Italy forum in destinations?

This is related specifically to a United Airlines waiver and the thread was started by a moderator of the United Airlines forum. I don't think the thread is going to be moved.

Normally strikes must be announced at least ten days in advance. Some are announced much earlier. If you look at the official government strike page I posted (the MIT) there is already one posted for September in Catania. Some are called off, it depends, but minimum ten days notice.

Unions are upset about increased military spending so there are more strikes than usual for this July (not debating it, just explaining it to avoid omni...).

So let me get this straight? These strike listings which are incredibly useful information need to stay here in the United forum because they only impact UA flights? Please explain as I am flying Lufthansa.

Start another thread in the Italy forum?

Hey there. You could start a separate, more general thread in the Italy forum about the strike, and include a link to this thread as a reference. That would be helpful for travelers to Italy.

This thread is only about United's accommodations for the strike, so it's appropriate for the original thread to stay here.

The terms and conditions of the UA waiver are UA specific. The T&Cs for LH are likely to be different as for any other carrier flight in Italy. And there are strikes on different days at airports not serviced by UA, such as PMO. And carriers using Italian crews have a very different situation. Plus there is a related rail strike a day earlier.

So, a master thread in the Italy forum may make sense covering the broader situation. But a thread in a specific carrier forum discussing the carriers' recovery / waivers also make sense. Having just a single covering all these different strikes and different carrier responses would quickly become unworkable. Perhaps the general thread in the Italy forum could provide links to the various carrier thread as references.

Winecountry,

I am not as talented as some of you in terms of starting new threads with links. Additionally the original very helpful link is of a source unknown to me. I just happen to have travels to Italy in few weeks and watching carefully. Can you indicate where you found the information in the first post of this thread?

On the United Airlines website, only applies to United Airlines.

For LH, try Italy Strikes - FlyerTalk Forums and ask if LH has provided any guidance for the present / future strikes, I did not see any info on Current travel information | Lufthansa

I started a thread in https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/italy-634/ and click the "New Thread" button. No talent needed -- just a ten-second Google search and some words.

Heads up: Industrial action for airport workers on July 9-10
