I believe United already signaled this last year when they included credit card spend in the personalized GS year summary videos (as opposed to partner spend, which wasn't included). It would be nice if we could have an explicit set of GS selection criteria, let alone thresholds, but I'm not holding my breath.
In terms of "significant" factor -- it's not Delta, and clearly card spend won't give anyone GS or any other status by itself. We are talking about pretty marginal impact relative to ticket spend. But as someone who hasn't broken $50k annual spend since the pandemic, the message was clear enough to cause me to get a UA credit card. |

Sorry, not familiar with this. Can you be more specific?

The summary videos were part of this year's GS welcome email. Search for 'video' in this thread and you'll find several messages that reference it.

The last two years they have been entitled "Welcome to United Global Services, xxxx" -- the video was a new prominent link for 2024.

No such worries for me this year -- but if they give me another $18k challenge all be all over that in a second -- just won't fly to ZRH this time....

I'd still do that in a heartbeat!
1) Another trip on the Island Hopper 2) Maybe the new Asia route if it's interesting 3) EWR-RAK 4) perhaps one of the Australia routes I haven't taken yet... |
Island Hopper is awesome (at least it was in the Continental Micronesia days). Mechanics on board and parts stockpiled at each island airport. Kwajalein is an experience!

My partner did the challenge last year and she will do it again if she does not qualify the normal way.

Hi all! Question - can the companion upgrade on premium fare benefit be exercised on a 1W ticket? The GS will be using miles for the outbound. And the return a revenue 1st class ticket. Can a companion be upgraded for the return leg?
