At least half of Delta's flights out of LaGuardia were/ are being cancelled today. I chatted with a DL pilot while waiting for a flight to cancel and he said it's ATC staffing problems. He said this week's summer weather is hardly extreme but any kind of disruption causes a cascade of failures at ATC.

The storms have just parked over north Jersey much of today it seems. I feel so bad for all the people trying to fly in/out and the employees dealing with it all. This weather pattern has been dreadful for all the NYC airports but EWR seems to be getting the worst of it.

We barely got back yesterday on our 4hr delayed DTW-IAD flight. When we arrived at Dulles at 1:30am the terminal was pretty full with people and at the customer service center in the C gates area the line extended past the turn-point to the tram and as far I could see going down the C gate corridor. Felt really bad for all those people - it's already bad enough to be subjected to IAD C/D terminal but to stay there for prolonged period of times, ugh.

I separately booked the DL ticket myself without waiting to talk to United about it. If the UC had still been open, I would have asked the wonderful agent there to explore that; but with the club having closed before the crew-related delay, I just went ahead anx bought the DL ticket since it was available and not insanely priced.

Friend's friend was flying through EWR last night and said the customer service center at C90 had a line all the way to the Polaris Lounge, yikes...

flew (attempted) to fly EWR-SFO yesterday. stuck on the tarmac for 6 hrs, first 2 hrs for stuck jet bridge. 2nd 2 hrs for lightning ground stop, last 2 hrs for waiting for more fuel/gate to refuel. offloaded and crew timed out and wasn't canceled for another 4 hrs around 2 am. no flights out of EWR for 3-4 days. the airport is a nightmare. i've seen natural disasters shelters more organized than the people sitting/sleeping on the ground at newark last night. rented a car to drive to IAD at 3am and finally enroute home. bag was gate checked and prob missing... lol
