Premier 1K upgrade availability (coming from AA ExPlat)
I am and have been a American airlines EP for years. I received an offer to status match on United to Premier 1K. I am sure I missed it somewhere on the site but i can't seem to figure out the upgrade policy for Premier 1K status. Can anyone point me to the right link for that?
Thanks

Depending upon your location and flight patterns, CPU clearance rates range from 0 to ~80%. PlusPoint upgrades range from 0 to 100% if you're extremely flexible -- but upgrade inventory has become increasingly scarce recently. If you're traveling Monday to Thursday, LAX to EWR or vv, your chances of upgrade are near zero. If you're traveling DFW-LAX-FAT midweek, you may get CPUs on a semi-regular basis.

What routes are you thinking about?
Best to understand, 1K is not top tier UA, GS is and the UA GS pool is believed to be larger than the CK pool on AA.
Core priority process is below
Waitlist priority for all flights
- United Global Services requests
- PlusPoints upgrades and MileagePlus Upgrade Awards
- Premier status of the traveler*
- Fare class
- Chase United MileagePlus Club cardholders and Presidential Plus cardholders
- United Corporate Preferred participants
- United Chase Cardmembers with $25,000 in annual spending
- Date and time of request
If we haven't confirmed your upgrade by the time you check in for your flight, you will be added to the Upgrades list at check-in, so there's nothing that you need to do after submitting your original request. Our upgrade systems process requests until three hours before flight departure, at which point our gate agents will handle all remaining upgrade requests.
*On flights equipped with United Premium Plus, we will process requests to upgrade to business class for customers ticketed in United Premium Plus (fare classes O, A, R) before processing requests for customers ticketed in economy.
Upgrade priority on United Premium Plus
On aircraft with United Premium Plus, we’ll first process United Polaris business class or United Business waitlists for all members who have purchased United Premium Plus seats, using the same priority order that applies to all upgrades. We’ll then process waitlists for members with United Economy seats.New waitlist requests for MileagePlus Upgrade Awards can be made until 24 hours before departure. New waitlist requests for PlusPoints upgrades can be made up until the flight check-in cutoff time.

So at Delta as a Diamond I got upgraded 90% of the time. That is not the case with UA as a 1K. They have a done of Global Service who come first. At Delta I never really came across more than one Delta 360 pax on a flight. UA is very different. Can’t speak to AA and EP vs Concierge Key pax. But 1K is really not the top of the heap at UA

Aside from upgrades, you had mentioned you are 7 MM with AA. UA counts miles differently for lifetime purposes.
AA used to count credit card spend as accumulation of MM. Upon moving to loyalty points, credit card spends no longer count toward MM. It's now all about BIS, butt-in-seat, similar to UA. AA, however, still counts partner flights. UA you have to earn it one mile at a time for lifetime miles, no bonus, no credit card, no partner earning.

For what it's worth, when I was simultaneously Exec Plat on AA and 1K on UA (for 3 years IIRC), I had a much higher domestic/complimentary upgrade percentage on AA than UA. I sense that's still the case based on input from others. Just a forewarning.

I absolutely would not switch from AA to UA for upgrades. Your percentage is going to go down (I say this as a former EXP 2019-22 and now 12 year consecutive 1K).
There are other reasons to switch, including particularly better IT. But the main reasons would be that you're either moving to a UA hub or will be flying frequently to a destination that UA serves much better than AA.

It is in my case as well. I also have a higher complimentary upgrade percentage on AS than UA, thanks to the AA/AS partnership.

I agree with other responses. I was an AA CK for six years and before and after that 1K for another dozen years. Even being ORD based taking elite-heavy flights I rarely missed an upgrade domestically and I was always able to upgrade my ORD/NRT flights (about six to eight times a year) from J to F using SWUs at booking. Back when AA was running three class 777s TPAC. I was matched to GS one year without asking when UA tried to pick off AA CKs during the merger chaos. I tried to fly UA a few times but could not get any global upgrades to clear anywhere near booking and I never did get a CPU to clear before 24 hours out even on elite-light flights. I just burned my regional upgrades and wrote off UA.
After retiring, most of my flying is between homes at ORD and RSW and UA has better frequency and pricing than AA. I buy P fares so I don't worry about upgrades. However, I have seen numerous times GS pax sitting in the back and they have top priority for upgrades. UA seems to have far more 1Ks than AA has EXPLs that you would be competing with for upgrades and most end up in the back on my flights. And I agree that there seem to be more GS at UA than there are CK at AA. So I agree with others who have posted that if the main reason for moving to UA is CPUs, you will likely be disappointed. But coming from DFW, where AA dominates, who knows.
