Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta will launch first on select flights, with more flights added all the time. United Airlines will follow and we'll continue to get even more added over time.

I have been redeeming wifi with miles, 7500 devalued miles for 30 days is a good value for me - I would have 15-20 flights during the period to max the value.

How much are these phone/data plans monthly? I am paying $30/month with Fi.

Magenta is $40x4 or $70 for single

Glad to see UA will be added soon, since our family is primarily TMo

Yes, it works on international flights. I am using it at the moment on my flight to DUB.

Wait - what *exactly* works on international?

The T-mobile plan on United metal international flights works now?

Buying a wifi plan from UA eg 30 day plan, using miles. That apparently also includes use on INTL flights

Nothing to do with TMO

T Mobile said United will follow, so they’re not offering that service on United at this time!

Here is a descriptive link:

https://www.t-mobile.com/news/un-carrier/coveragebeyond

Coverage Beyond: Free In-flight Connectivity

To keep Un-carrier customers connected in-flight, T-Mobile is working with in-flight Wi-Fi providers to give customers free connectivity WITH streaming all flight long on the biggest U.S. airlines. Delta, American and Alaska Airlines will launch first on select flights starting June 21. United Airlines will follow. And T-Mobile will continue to work hard to keep customers covered on even more airlines over time.

This means T-Mobile customers are connected overseas and now in America’s skyways … at no extra cost. More airlines. More flights. Full-flight connectivity. And better connectivity.

This isn’t the in-flight Wi-Fi of decades past. In addition to texting, browsing and emailing on your phone, T-Mobile customers can also stream, where available, all flight long too. Meaning customers can watch all the streaming services they get for free or at a discount with T-Mobile – like MLB.tv, Netflix, Paramount+, Philo, YouTube TV and more.

Glad to hear T-Mo is going to [finally] allow this on UA - sometime.

For just about ever - ok - maybe the last 5-10 years, they’ve offered the hour free wifi on domestic carriers (those using GoGo) - but UA was always excluded. I suspect they’re launching the new program on AA, DL and Alaska first since they already work with them, and will probably take time to get everything set up and tested for use with UA.

Wow. TMobile already offers free int'l roaming in most countries, free Netflix, and now will add free in-air wifi. They're doing a good job catering to travelers!

Assuming this will cover domestic flights only, so UA needs an int'l-only wifi subscription. Today, all that's offered is US or US+Int'l.

T-mobile user will get free United Wi-Fi both domestic and international.

I think it is great benefit for T-mobile and United users. Save several hundreds Wi-Fi fee every year.

It was announced as part of a broader roaming benefits announcement a few months ago that T-Mobile would be working to have wifi benefits for subscribers on UA flights. Tmo previously offered Gogo wifi benefits but Gogo is being used less and less on DL and AA. I took advantage of the new 5GB international roaming benefit recently.

Magenta Max customers will get unlimited wifi, but Magenta only an hour. Assume this hour is per flight but haven't seen details.

It only works on specific plans: "T-Mobile customers on eligible plans including Magenta and Magenta MAX"
