21 June 2022 UA928 LHR-ORD operated by a 752

Never seen a 752 on this route. Seems to be pushing the maximum range of this aircraft no?
How often do you see these aircraft with only 16 J seats operate ORD-LHR or even EWR-LHR (where this aircraft came from). For a popular route, I would think they would be using Polaris-equipped aircraft and leave the 752s for destinations like Porto, Keflavik, etc. without heavy business travel. Seatmap shows a pretty light load on this flight though.

Kirby is making a run for Smisek territory with this smallball tactics

They used to fly EWR-ARN using a 757, right? The difference in distance between LHR-ORD and EWR-ARN is only 20 miles according to webflyer.

They used to be a mainstay of EWR-LHR to max frequency.

I’m guessing similar distance as DEN-OGG, where it’s been a long-time type.

Did ORD-KEF last year on a 752, though it’s shorter, of course.

The aircraft was a sub today. The 763 scheduled from EWR to LHR last night on the 11:00pm had mechanical issues. A 3 hour delay and an aircraft sub and then this aircraft continued to Chicago today. This was a sub and better than a cancel

Not when they can divert for a fuel stop.

I get this reasoning and can sympathize a little with the current state of airline ops, but IMHO you only get to play this card a couple times before it gets old and you lose customer trust. First a 772HD on IAH-LHR, then another on IAD-MUC, and now this, all in the span of what, a month? 752s and 772HDs are not valid long-term spare aircraft for routes that are more-or-less Polaris guaranteed and sell PE.

exactly

You also aren’t getting hoodwinked by the “but would you rather they cancel?” nonsense.

Last summer UA operated the 752 on ORD-KEF.

I also flew that route

Edit: on checking it looks like that route is back this summer from tomorrow, still with 752
