“UA has decided to temporarily suspend transiting Russian airspace"SFO-DEL/BOM impact
It appears the SFO-[ICN]-PVG route is a blessing in disguise right now, as SFO-ICN doesn't go into Russian airspace.
Are there any other, current UA flights that UA needs to worry about if/when Russian airspace is off-limits?

East Coast to Asia would be impacted, but it looks like they may be accounting for this already. E.g., UA79 EWR-NRT has found itself a new route since last week, already even on 21Feb. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...630Z/KEWR/RJAA

SFO-DEL and the future BOM, otherwise beleive SFO-Japan flights are OK
EWR-DEL can/ has reroute, as have EWR-NRT

It's not a factor now (the flight is restricted due to COVID), but UA179 EWR-HKG often goes "east" of the North Pole during the winter, and south over Russia to HKG. This happens when the north Pacific jet stream is especially strong; I'm not sure a "west" of pole routing would work without a fuel stop or going out with significant load limits.
I just looked at SQ23 (JFK-SIN), using the A359 and wow! 18:40 flight time. See attached.

India will probably need tech stops, from east coast or west coast, unless the winds are really favorable.
Singapore can use creative routings unless the winds are unfavorable on both sides.
Everything else should be OK, possibly slightly longer depending on winds.

However, still interesting that BOM-EWR is still overflying Russia. Wonder when/if that comes to an end.

In terms of distance SFO-ICN-BLR is not a huge amount longer.

There is quite probably more of a penalty when jetstream figured in.
However, SFO-BLR doesn't appear to be a route they realistically plan on serving any time soon, no matter what routing is required.

I posted in another thread - but a fascinating few days for this flight. Cancelled on Feb 27th, and on that day the EWR-DEL and ORD-DEL both took a Mediterranean & Gulf route, apparently clearly avoiding western Russian airspace. 867 is back in the air today (Feb 28th) and appears to be heading North and taking it's recent usual route, but I'm curious to see what transpires. On this one next week!

Hmmmm, I wonder if ANC will become popular again for EU carriers going to East Asia. Before the opening of Soviet Airspace, going over the north pole and via ANC was common.
