The 
ne on the left looks like a passport cover. These were given out for the start of some international routes. I recall receiving one when flying the (then new) DEN-NRT route. Perhaps you flew both ways and received one each way. Not having gone to the 2013 SFO Do I have no idea whether these made an appearance there.

Getting warmer.
As someone who used to do real estate for an airline, these days there are only really a few millwork providers and airport display software providers out there (unless you have an airport that under whatever civic entity it is has to go to lowest bidder regardless and you get Bob's Kitchens down the road who has never done airport work before and that just never works well). So airports start looking more and more generic and similar in gate aspects.

It wasn't part of the latest refurbishment that extended out the concourse but I think part of the one before that. This gate is the first one upstairs (and to my right was the elevator down and railing overlooking the central area just after security).
