So far, BOS-SFO-BOS is still showing 757-200s through summer 2026 (except 1x/day 7M9). So if they are going to make the summer season change for 2026, presumably we'll see it in the next few weeks. Sadly, it doesn't look iike Max10s or A321XLRs with lie-flats will join the fleet in 2026 to augment the narrow-body lie-flat fleet. The only hope is that arriving 787s will help cascade some 752s back to domestic service (i.e. 787s replace 777s/767s that replace 752s etc.). Of course they have to keep lie-flats on EWR-SFO/LAX with the p.t.s. service commitment (includes 752s and 777As).
Effective with yesterday's pushed schedule updates, the 752s are off BOS<>SFO effective March 30, 2025, replaced by the 737MAX9. This is presumably the same summer schedule change we've seen for the past two years. Note that only through May 21 equipment has changed so far, but practice has been to roll the change out a month or two at a time, four to five months in advance. Hopefully this is the last year of this swap, with new narrow-body planes with lie-flat seats to join the fleet (was 737MAX10, now more likely A321XLR) in 2026..

Why is this 4 year thread still alive?! BOS is not a pts destination! Enjoy 752s when you get them, otherwise its like any other non-EWR/SFO/LAX destination! Just like IAD/ORD/others.

It is longer flight than IAD or EWR. And ORD? That is like a midcon flight, so not sure why it would even be mentioned.

Agree cfischer.
My question was - why do we still need this thread - on a long non pts transcon flight. Confirmed.
Otherwise we should start threads for MIA/IAD/any other SFO destination cities in the east.

My sense is that UA would probably still like to put lie-flats on BOS-SFO, as well as other transcons. That was rumored to be part of the never-formally-launched-but-much-discussed "United Coast" plan. The problem of course is that UA just doesn't have enough of the right equipment for it with the PW 752 retirements during covid and the perpetual MAX 10 delays. Competitive pressure has changed too: IIRC DL pulled back their lie-flats on BOS-SFO, and JetBlue's Mint may not be as much of a threat now as it seemed to be 7-8 years ago.
Edit: Just looked up the schedule for next summer, and DL is down to 2x some days, while UA will be 7x! Guess the brief p.s. period worked for UA at fending off DL.

Well, even though the lie-flats with any regularity disappeared some time ago, the BOS-SFO route still granted F lounge access as recently as a few months ago. That holdover was certainly an oddity that you wouldn't really find on any other domestic non-p.s. route.

And for sprimg 2026 on some flights they've gone to 739 (not Max9) for the SFO-BOS direction.....first i can remember that happening and can't work in the reverse direction (not enought range against the winds)
