Award ticket.

SAN-LAX 8/19 cleared just before T-24 . Went to.check in at T-24 to find my seat was now in F

LAS-SFO 8/23 cleared T-96
SFO-SAN 8/23 cleared T-96

I am fairly lucky with CPUs on paid tickets as receive the CPU most of the time.

as a silver

My last three LAX-HNL segments have cleared CPU as a silver on 739s and 753s. 2x at before T-24 and once as a battlefield.

I just had two CPUs clear, a day apart, both on XN award tickets, at exactly the T-120 hr mark. Both 739s, one with J9/PN0 and the other J8/PN0 just before T-120.

Still holding on a CPU for Friday's KOA-SFO flight. Per usual, I suspect this will go down either way at boarding. My experience on the route is they sell F until the door closes, literally. I have cleared all instruments as GS on this flight this year but this time I am going bare. Didn't clear on the out bound SFO-KOA until I was seated expect the same on the return.

Whoops - ORD-IAD (the rare time I fly that route vs. ORD-DCA).

Just thought I'd let everyone know that the CPU upgrade tracking spreadsheet has been updated to this point. Simply visit the Google Sheet and select the CPU Success tab at the bottom. This spreadsheet contains other upgrade experiences, namely ToD offers and GPU successes as well.

One thing I would really appreciate everyone including in their future reports of CPU success is the fare basis they were upgraded from, as this is likely useful intelligence for those of us trying to figure out how not to die on the battlefield.

Safe Travels,

James

An eager CPU machine

Last night, I changed my wife's saver economy (XN) ticket from one-class aircraft to two-class aircraft orginating from a different airport and departing this Saturday. So, it was well within 1K CPU window. She is a primary cardholder of MP Explorer card, so she is eligible for CPU on this ticket. When I made the change, it did change the ticket but gave me this warning. "Action required to confirm change. There was an error processing you request. We’ve changed your flight, but must reissue your ticket. You won’t be able to check in to your flight until this issue has been resolved."

So, I was curious to look at the reservation again right away. It had the CPU cleared! (it was PZ3 and I1 before booking and I1 disappared afterwards.) And I was able to choose a seat in First Class cabin.

When I called for re-issuing the ticket, it took more than half an hour. The agent was puzzled by CPU and asked me to pay additonal miles. I had to educate him about CPU. I did not say that it was the machine's fault. :)

This Gold scored a CPU at the gate for UA 1856 S PTY-IAH on Wed 18 Sept 19, plus one for my companion.

This Platinum just checked-in regular economy fare. Not on upgrade standby list. What does that mean?

1K cleared DCA-ORD 96 hours in advance on the 1244PM departure on Columbus Day.

ORD-RIC on Columbus Day cleared at T-85 h (on XN ticket with Chase primary cardholder).

You need to call to uncheck and re-check in until the agent fixes it. You may need to HUCA. Good luck.

This 1k was apparently waitlisted #5 on UA1749 SFO-OGG during boarding yesterday. I was sitting in 10C thinking about cheeseburger and the idiot next to me using device w/o eargear when GA came aboard and found "So and so, party of 4 - we have 3 seats up front" a couple of rows behind me. I overheard one parent and one kid accepting move and declining the third so kid and mother could sit together in back. GA left and came back a couple minutes later looking for yours truly. A pleasant surprise. This flight was fully booked in F and most of E+ a month ago. I had not even bothered applying an instrument because I though it was a waste of time. I got a CPU instead through a series of fortunate events.

I've quit looking at waitlist - maybe it's lucky because I was pleasantly last Friday being yanked out of my coach seat HNL-LAX.

To top it off, FA offered me a second sundae :)

A couple of firsts today for flights tomorrow. I'm flying SLC-DEN-CHS, and with Saturday flights, I didn't expect them to be full. Both my wife (no status, but flying with me) and I (Silver) got upgraded on the SLC-DEN just after the 24-hour mark. First upgrade in quite some time. For the DEN-CHS flight, I failed to get E+ for the first time ever as a Silver. Usually something opens up, but the flight is full. I wish the upgrade was for the long segment!

2nd Success on Same Trip

Returning CHS-ORD-SLC today. Both my wife and I were upgraded for the ORD-SLC segment just after the 24 hr. mark. After going all year without an upgrade, we get two on the same trip!
