LAX-ORD Gold MM Upgrade cleared at T-24ish. Quite surprised I cleared as a Gold. 4 seats still available and a significant amount of E+ unassigned including all exit row seats. This is a redeye flight. I'm glad UA didn't offer a buy-up before the upgrade was processed. Now I have an offer for the second segment (ORD-ROC). Not going to bite. Update - flight went out 99% full with a handful of silvers (I'm guessing) on the upgrade list. |

If, and only if, the clearance email comes it will be anywhere from 1 hour before to 3 hours AFTER the flight.

First post-merger upgrade as a Premier Silver
LAX-ORD, upgraded as a Premier Silver.
Its my first post-merger upgrade! Most of my flying was on CO, and as Silver flying out of LAX (from 1987 to 2012), I was usually upgraded around 65% of the time. |
Y fare?

My guess is red-eye. There is a lot of lift departing after 10:30pm and within 2 hours of each other on LAX-ORD. |

Congrats - that's a really tough route to clear. I was a Platinum the last few years and it was still tough. What day / time was the flight?

My SFO-MSP this week exhibited an interesting pattern...
E75 booked 3/12 cleared one GS at the GS window (4/12, F8 R6 IN0) cleared two 1Ks (all of us) at the 1K window (6/12, F6 R4 IN0) cleared two Plats at the Plat window (8/12, F4 R2 IN0) one paid pax canceled (7/12, F5 R3 I1) somewhere between that and the Gold window, one more upgrade was run, and then two more pax bought tickets (10/12, F2 A2 Z0) around T-24 one more seat was purchased |
As a 1K this year flying out of SFO, I have had 7 CPUable legs and have been upgraded on 5, most recently SFO-MSP-SFO on an ERJ. Cleared two days ahead on the outbound and at the gate on the return (there was only one seat available, but the #1 and #2 on the list were traveling together so they declined and I got the upgrade as #3 . The only legs I missed were SFO-LAS-SFO on Presidents Day weekend.
There was actually a meal served. . Cold salmon on salad greens on the way out, and sliced chicken breast on a salad on the way back. |
