It's unfortunate, and there's really no good answer for this. The company is making such a big deal about taking care of GS and other "important" pax while simultaneously emphasizing flexibility/judgment of employees that I hope they have your back in cases like this.
I, for one, hope you aren't discouraged from continuing to do things like this. Setting the bad apples aside... we appreciate it.

Sorry folks, I posted a good deed I had done for a passenger that could potentially cause an issue for me. Not to mention, many of the folks on this forum can be pretty rough, so after thinking twice about my post, removed it.
