Per UA Insider in this post: Yes you will now earn PQP on bulk tickets but not necessarily for the cash value since the price of the ticket is opaque. Bulk tickets will be equal to the award miles you earn for the ticket (excluding Premier bonus miles, if any) divided by 5.

Actually this might be better for my travel plans... Lufthansa premium economy earns at 150% plus the 1K bonus.
sample sfo to fra to Del is close to 11000 x 2 x 1.5 x 2 = 66000 / 5 = 13,200 pqp which is already halfway to 1K. Of course 4 united segments is easy.
or is this wishful thinking the award miles only on actual distance and not the actual award miles awarded with bonuses.

Basically, United prefers those who only travel once a year, with 4 UA segment but spending 25,000 USD on tickets ..
Then, only ONE-TRIP, they will be 1K member... The top FREQUENT-FLYER member?

sample sfo to fra to Del is close to 11000 x 2 x 1.5 x 2 = 66000 / 5 = 13,200 pqp which is already halfway to 1K. Of course 4 united segments is easy.

Where does one start with all these changes and new calculations required?

Also, currently passplus flex individual is $50k for GS. $45k for 1k, so technically they should make changes to improve passplus

I think the "24 segments plus $10K" for Gold status might not be correct in the OP. As $10K in spend alone qualifies for Gold status. Maybe it should be 24 segments and $8K in spend to align with the Silver and Platinum threasholds? Which is $333 per segment, and somewhat insane.
I'm now just mileage running to cross over the 1MM threshold and achieve Gold status that way. I only have to spend about $5K more in tickets (and that's including the taxes). And which wouldn't even earn me one year of Silver status in this new scheme. I think if I were just starting my FF career, I would just purchase that annual Economy Plus offer and not even make an effort for elite status.

I’ve got about 300K until 1MM and thought it would be fairly easy to reach it. Now, not so much.

I've read through the requirements twice, and it's still not clear to me how this all works. But what is clear is that UA has imposed a level of spend that far exceeds the benefits received in return.
I'm not even going to try for UA status next year.

These changes do not impact the way you qualify for Million Miler status, which is based on the actual distance you fly.

This validates the push I made this year to reach 3MM. I knew changes were coming and wanted to lock in 1K for life before there was another “enhancement.” Whew!
