Purchasing PQM's & PQS's **with** PQD's

Got an email offering 15,000 PQM's or 15 PQS's for $1,570. What I haven't seen before was a note that the purchase would count toward PQD's. I'm considering it.

Does anyone know if purchased PQM count towards million miler status as well? I assume they do, but nothing confirms or denies this.

Since the merger they have not.
How are "lifetime miles" calculated for MileagePlus?

This is the offer I got.

This is actually a pretty good price

Why the change to letting us now purchase PQD? Quite frankly I would rather TOD and change fees counted for the PQD. If I am unwilling to pay extra for the airfare to meet the PQD why would I pay for the PQD?

Just trying to work out the logic of allowing a buyup for the PQD.
They include PQD to make people more likely to buy it. What other logic could there be?

When looking at this new option, note there are no RDMs which the Premier Accelleartor includes.
So the "include PQDs" comes at a higher effective price (no RDMs for award travel / upgrades ).

YMMV

For the record I have just under 15,000 PQMs YTD. Been a 1K for a few years now, live overseas.

I could maybe, maybe see doing this is 15k short of 100,000 in December, but a hop to Singapore and back racks up almost 20,000 miles for less than $1,000.

Of course, much of what we do with miles and points borders on irrationality anyway (such as a mileage run to Singapore).
I guess one could call this offer the lazy person's mileage run

They would have to pay me $2000 to even consider sitting in Economy all the way to SIN and back.

Where on https://mystatus.united.com/ would these offers appear, or is it e-mail invitation only? Although I've been MP Gold for a couple years now, this year I'm 0/0/0 so might not qualify for any PQM/PQS/PQD purchases.

15,000 for $2230. Never mind I'm only ~10k short of 1K for 2020, way over on PQDs, and have future flights booked to put me well over 100k PQM next month.

That said, for some who might struggle to meet the new $15k 1K threshold this is essentially a "buy-up" opportunity that could allow a soft landing of sorts. They might hit the PQMs by flying but this extra PQD buy would put them into 1K territory. Smart marketing by UA. They'll likely get some takers.

I got an email about it but did not check my offer as most probably this will not help me for the PQD jump from $12,000 to $15,000 needed this year to qualify for 1K so I might as well just qualify for Platinum without throwing money away. Like you, my wife who is at 0/0/0 for this year did not receive any email.
