UA 957 Friday April 12
I am very confused, I want to book in economy and wait-list for business using GPU if there is a decent chance of it clearing (GS GPU). When I look online using expert mode it shows J3 JN3 C1, my assumption is only 3 business class seats left for sale. When I call the Global Service line, the rep claims there are 20 seats in business left for sale. Can someone please explain to me what I am missing here.

For those keeping score, it appears UA957 is GVA-EWR.

Are you sure you have the right day? I see it as J9 C6 D1

From Flight status page (using Cablepick link) - United Polaris. SM business: 30 Booked: 10 Checked In: 0.The agent is correct. 20 seats are available for sale.

If you are connecting, you're seeing the inventory for the entire itinerary, which is likely limited by the number of seats available on your connecting flight. If you search just for the flight in question, you'll see its actual inventory.

J9 C6 D1 Z0 does not bode particularly well for an upgrade, even a GS upgrade.

I have never missed an upgrade from GVA. I am maybe 8 for 8 or so on GPUs over the past three years, as 1K most of that time.
