Window up

I haven’t had this happen often but coming back on Dtw to Sfo Thursday, row 3, I am aisle and the person who is sitting at window asked if I wanted the window shade up or down. And that was for 2 windows that were in our row. Actually paused for a second as I was thrown off by the ask, cant remember the last time anyone asked.

Unless sun is coming in hard based on the angle, Always up for me unless overnight flight…

I could see an open window being dangerous, but not an open window shade.

Yep - I suspect most of us would object strenuously to a seatmate opening the window mid-flight.

Opening the window shade is fine with me though.

i disagree. Guy sitting in aisle seat doesn’t own the aisle!

On what basis do you disagree?

Obviously, persons seated in middle or window seats have the right to access the aisle to use the lavatory.

How does that give the aisle and middle seat occupants the "right" to control the window shade?

Missing out! There's no IFE like the window —

Mt. Fuji,

Half Dome,

moonrise over Boston,

sunrise over Alps,

aurora over Greenland,

storms over Raleigh.

Put me in "the magic of flight and the beauty of the earth from the air never gets old" category.

It also serves to remind how small and inconsequential each of us and our individual problems are in the bigger picture. Suppose that puts me in the "Flying is my religion" or "Flying is my therapy" camp.

You don't need to see the point. Some people enjoy observing the world more than their screens. My window stays open all the time unless the sun is shining directly into someone's eyes.
