10th year for 1K. Almost 1MM (damn you US Air code shares back in the day - that's my shortage)

I hit platinum on the way to Europe this past weekend (DEN-FRA on 4 October).

PQM: 80,594 mi.
PQS: 54
PQD: $14,419

I've got the PQD nailed for 1K; that threshold will come on the way home. But it's going to be a stretch for the PQM. I should just barely get there (well, I'll make sure that I do ).

I would show mrs. iapetus this thread the next time that she argues that I travel a lot, but I know that even that won't convince her otherwise. I can't imagine what it's like to qualify for 1K or even platinum on all domestic travel.

Crossed 375K PQM on UA N78005 (first day of commercial operation after being Polarized) ORD-PEK on Oct 8. This plane left XIA on Oct 6 for HKG, and left HKG on Oct 7 for SFO and IAH (repositioning flights), and started commercial service earlier in the morning on Oct 8 from IAH to ORD. It was like sitting in a refurbished new house. UA revamped the ex-CO 777s to be consistent with ex-UA 777s by repositioning the lavatories, closets etc.

I read the “Lemonade out of Lemons” thread last April and a lightening bolt it. My flying behavior changed immediately. I refocused on getting life-time status, as it was clear that United was slowly (now rapidly) changing the MP program. I want to get that status as quickly as I could. I think United may change the qualification for the MM program—the bar might be raised—but I expect them to leave the benefits alone. If you want life-time status, it’s time to get flying!

What's funny is, when you slow down and only fly 250K BIS miles/year, you won't even make 1K in the new program...

What MM tier are you trying to achieve?

That’s why I made a concerted effort over the past two years to get 3MM ASAP, although I did it in a more comfortable cabin most of the time, but you’ve taken it to a new level! If I could do 500K BIS a year, I might run for GS for life! What was your favorite route?

I will change my flying behavior to meet new goals. I’ve always done it with Continental/United.

I am trying to hit 3 million LT miles. The one thing this exercise has confirmed is that I travel really well and don’t suffer from jet lag—as long as I do a quick turnaround—so I’m on my way to 4 million.

SFO/SIN: it was LAX/SIN, but LAX is gone (for now). I prefer LAX/MEL because I get there and back faster and I love the NZ Lounge in Melbourne. I have a target of 3.9 cpm, so since I started this lark, I’ve only been able to go to MEL four times. I’ve been to HKG five times. HKG is interesting in that it involves an overnight stay. The cost is still under 3.9 cpm with the hotel and train included; jet lag isn’t too bad. SIN stands out: I’ve been there 39 times. My shortest sojourn there was 72 minutes; the longest was 4 hours and 10 minutes. I have two ambitions: to visit SIN (step outside the airport) after I’m done with MRs. I also really want to try four SFO/SIN round trips in a week. It’s doable with about a two hour layover at each airport. I’ve done three LAX/SFO/SIN round trips in a week, so four is doable. I’ll keep a DNR form in my pocket as the SFO/SIN crews are overworked as it is.

Finally, I’d never done a mileage run until last April. I didn’t think I was that kind of person. Try it a few times. A gene switches on!

It was a very slow spring because I was (shudder) working locally. There's an outside chance that I'll hit Platinum this year. Gold is basically guaranteed due to work and other travel.
PQM: 33,332
PQS: 60
PQD: $8,932.00

2019-Oct-10, DTW-ORD.

Gold Achieved. On to Platinum (maybe), at 4 segments/week, MSP-ORD-DTW.

Your numbers are similar to mine $62K PQD, 116 PQS, although I only have 175K PQM's however expensive trip to Vitoria, Brazil next week will take me well above 200PQM's. Guessing I finish the year somewhere around $85 PQD, 140 PQS, and 230 PQM's.
