Offers started showingBuy up 24 Jan 2018, see https://promotions.united.com/offers/premierstatus for your offer (if eligible)

In recent years, in January (typically the second week or so), UA has offered status-buy programs. Generally, UA has limited to no more than an additional 15K PQMs or 15 PQSs ( and similar limits for PQDs).

Past year programs
January 2013
January 2014
January 2015
January 2016
2017 UA MP elite status buy-up offers (for higher status than earned in 2016) January 2017

Buy up ≈ MAX(rounded PQM gap fee, rounded PQD gap)
Those rules seem to work >90% of the reported cases. (at least in 2017,2016,2015)

Code:
PQM gap chart for earlier years
to Sil to Gold to Plat to 1K
 1K $199 $299 $349 N/A

 4K $649 $799 $999 $1,699
 5K $799 $949 $1,149 $1,949
 6K $949 $1,099 $1,299 $2,199
 7K $1,099 $1,249 $1,449 $2,449
 8K $1,249 $1,399 $1,599 $2,699
 9K $1,399 $1,549 $1,749 $2,949
 10K $1,549 $1,699 $1,899 $3,149
 11K $1,699 $1,849 $2,049 $3,349
 12K $1,849 $1,999 $2,199 $3,549
 13K $1,999 $2,149 $2,349 $3,749
 14K $2,149 $2,299 $2,499 $3,949
 15K $2,299 $2,449 $2,649 $4,149

I can't recall if you get RPUs/GPUs when you buy back/up your united status. I didn't think so, but a coworker disagrees.

My offer clearly indicated that GPUs were included (at least this year). I'm not sure that they have been consistent.
Just looked again and it also includes the RPUs.

Your offer was from Plat to 1k?

Edit to my previous post, my Plat buy up included 2 RPUs, but they took a little while to show up on my account.

68K PQM, 53 segments (ALL on competitive routes, mostly ORD-LGA), $20K PQD..... $1600 to buy up to Platinum from Gold.

Ugh.

I should just fly DL.

See you in 21A for another year...

edited to add: I would get RPUs if I bought this which ain't happenin.

If I go to mystatus.united.com, it says, "ensure 1k status for 2018 by locking it in here". When I click through and sign in, it says I do not qualify for the offer.

Anyone qualified for a status buy up offer?

What am I gaining by upgrading from Gold to Platinum? I rarely fly domestic US.
For those with question related to the "value" of buy-ups, these threads (also listed in the thread wiki)
Is it worth it to stretch for 1K (over Plat)? [2017 Consolidated]
Is it worth it to stretch for Plat (over Gold)? [2017 Consolidated]
Is it worth it to stretch for Gold (over Silver)? [2017 Consolidated]
Is it worth it making Premier Silver? [2017 Consolidated]
may help -- each of the threads has a wiki with the differences between the levels and there is discussion on the "value" of bridging the gap.

Glad to have it for at least one more year. The difference in benefits between Silver & Gold is significant, particularly for *A flights & getting to use the lounges on international flights.
That is reasonable to be able to book E+ at time of purchase, and have the extra bag and assorted *Gold benefits when flying INTL.

some of the other offers so far are jaw droppingly outrageous. Yours is actually reasonable!

i ended up burning rather than earning in 2017. So I did not qualify to buy up to Gold or even Silver. I will live with Zone 2, 2 free bags and UC via my Club card. For INTL I will buy E+ probably though.

Hmmm... I have very similar PQM stats, with about 2x the PQS and 3x the PQD, and Plat costs me $150 more.

Looks like UA is running a fascinating price elasticity experiment with these offers.

If there's a broader trend - less $ to buy up to Silver or Gold, more $ to buy up to Platinum or 1K, and people who fly UA more (from a segment perspective) receive more expensive offers to acquire the upgraded status.

Also - it looks like PQDs don't matter at all.
