IN Class Booking for 1K from Non-Status Account

I think I know the answer to this but I couldn't find anything concrete online.

Does United permit the booking of IN class from a non-status account when the traveler is a 1K or GS?

For a 1K, the answer is no. Availability is based on the status of the account booking the trip -- not the traveler.

WineCountryUA is right to say agents shouldn't give you IN, but I bet many agents instinctively will: I've seen myself and family members listed for I and IN intermittently with little rhyme or reason, regardless of the status of the pax and the account providing the miles.

In practice unlikely to make a ton of difference, since IN usually = I, but of course can't hurt if you get WLd for IN!

I find that on intl TPAC's (since i fly those more than TATL's) IN > I. For example, I've been watching December I/IN/R space just for fun on various routings and have noticed that SFO-TPE flights have IN=1; I=0.
