Is it worth cancelling?
I need to cancel an award reservation I have coming up soon, but the redeposit fee of 125 USD each is higher than what I paid for the ticket originally!
Annoyingly, about half of the 40k miles that would be redeposited I paid for with cash for this award ticket - ha.
Is it worth paying 125 USD each to have 40k redeposited in my account? The alternative is obviously to lose the flights (and miles) and just not turn up for the flights, to save the 250 USD.
Thanks!

Absolutely. A lowball valuation of 1cpm puts 40k miles at $400. I can't see this not being a worthwhile trade.
Of course, may as well hold out till the last hour to cancel the ticket, as a delay or similar might give you grounds to ask for a cancellation with no redeposit fee.
