Glad everyone's safe. Probably a tough decision for a pilot to decide to evacuate or not with a fire out there.
They sent the whole plane to the club?
Did people take their under seat carry-on bag or were they going up in the overhead?
It's good they acted like it was a daily occurrence. I guess that training works.

On a brighter note, half the doors were not in use. I think it took well under a minute to evacuate the B752.

You might have seen the following https://www.google.com/amp/abc7ny.co...-fire/2029059/
I didn't see a fire and I was among the first few off the plane. You could smell kerosine as you approached the slide, a little scary.

4:04 hrs late now per united.com flight status.
How are they transferring people's carry on bags and loose items in the seat pockets to the new aircraft? (for those who followed the rules/orders, that is)

They're going to run us in small groups to get our things. I posted the announcement they made; it's on Facebook, but the link isn't working here.

So glad you (& everyone else) are safe.
The "Flight attendants are here primarily for your safety" rings so true. Sound like everything went exactly as it should - Evac ordered, crew jumped into position, plane emptied in no time flat. Everyone safe.
Can't ask for much more than that. Stuff happens, and that's why the crew trains. Everyone is safe, all is well, and you'll even get to SFO tonight. Great outcome.

They're all over it. There are people milling around answering concerns: lots of United people. There were 124 passengers, only 3 are being unreasonable, but I guess everyone deals with these things in their own way.

The police were really insistent that they get an accurate headcount. One officer complained that United lawyers refused to release the numbers. I just saw the published number I overheard an FA say.
The police were awesome.

Seriously, it seems like a big over-reaction to fake a fire just get a doctor to leave his seat for a deadheading crew member wearing leggings.
Glad everyone is safe and cool to hear how quickly one of those things can be evacuated.

Does anyone know the tail number of 5318? It's flight 1807 from LAX to EWR, but got diverted to IAD. We've been assigned that ship. I want to see if I can find out where it is.
Also, I'm told the tower told the pilots about the fire, so if someone hasn't done so already, I'm going to listen to an ATC site to listen to the dialog.
