There always seems to be upgrade availability on this route. W fare (return) was only $150 more than S. Those who complain about not being able to use their GPUs and playing the W lottery are clearly not flying this route.

5. Was originally booked to fly GUM-HNL-SFO, processed a SDC to route back via KIX instead of HNL and GPU cleared immediately. I checked R space was available before making the change though

Outbound could have had an entire row in Y. Very empty and even had 3-4 empty C seats.
Return: calle car 100% full. Guy directly in front of me got last upgrade seat at boarding. I paid $900 premium for upgrade lottery plus 1GPU.
