Voucher usage
Hi guys!
I have two united vouchers that are $500 and $300 each. I'm not looking to sell them but desperately needs ideas on how to use them.
No flights planned, not too much extra cash available. Wife and I have time to travel either thanksgiving time or christmas time.
What would the best use be for these vouchers?

They are good for one year -- the light can be later but the purchase needs to be before expiration.

They can only be used for airtravel on UA/UX. Not for other UA activities (like upgrades, UC membership, ...). They can not be directly used for itineraries with partner flights (workaround exists but takes some effort).
Only one can be used on a ticket (one per passagner) and the voucher can be used by anyone.
As to where -- that's up to you.

Both! I can reach JAX, MCO, TPA, and the surrounding airports with a short drive and am looking for airfare under $700.
Is extending the credits really an option?
If you had these credits and could do anything with them what would you do?

A bit of hassle and requires some effort. with two different voucher values would require two separate tickets or cash to equalize the difference. The use of unrestricted fare ticket allows you to reschedule for no fee (but you can not refund for cash -- only credit).

There are ways to extend the voucher (e.g. buy a fully refundable ticket that has a trip date months from now). With two different value of voucher you'd probably want to book 2 one ways in order to use all the value. If you stick the $500 voucher on an $400/person fare it will only take $400 off or $500 off the total but IIRC you can't use the $300 on the same itinerary if you apply the full $500.
I'm a mileage runner, so I'd buy the EWR-SIN fare that is going for <600 right now.

For 100 people giving you an idea, you will probably get 100 different ideas. Where would YOU like to go? Warm? Cold? Hot? Snow? Beach? Foreign? Domestic? There are just too many options. We would need to more about what kinds of things you like to see and do before being able to give you viable responses. Sounds like you are in Florida, I am in California, what I would like to visit is probably totally different than what you like to visit. Give us some ideas of your likes and dislikes and maybe we can suggest a place for you to fly to.
