IAD-CDG on a 787?

I booked a trip from IAD-CDG in late Nov. I had a schedule change and when I went to investigate, my updated itineraries show a 787 on the route instead of a 767. Is this a temporary change? Personally, I look forward to more 787s at IAD. Anyone else notice this?

In business it seems comparable to the 767: just get a bulkhead. I have not had the pleasure in economy.

I go out of my way to fly the 787. Much nicer experience, especially on long-hauls, from my perspective: I tend to arrive much less fatigued.

Of course, as with most things, YMMV.

I think mduell was referring to UA's less than stellar reputation operating the 787 reliably - especially at hubs thet aren't equipped to deal with it....

Sure, as long as you are in business, and not coach.

On this route In November there may be quite a few open seats in coach, and the narrower seats are not so much of an issue if the adjacent seat is empty.

True, but that means you're playing a game of chance that the seat next to you remains empty. Not a risk I'm willing to take on a 7+ hour flight. The more 787 and 10 wide 777s UA brings on board, the more likely I'm flying on a different airline.

UA gives you an 18" wide seat on a regional E170/175, but wants to cram you into a narrower seat for 7-14 hours long haul? No, thanks.

Only because the 14.5" RJ seats didn't work out so well.

Dulles 787, IAD - CDG 11/15

I fly Transatlantic quite a bit and this is the first time I have seen a Dreamliner out of Dulles. Have I not been paying attention?
This seems like an odd route for the 787, no?

Me too! Less fatigue, less dehydrated, less headaches.
