decrease in IAH to MUC flights ?

I have a 3.22.17 flight ABQ -IAH - MUC, a frequent route for me. IAH is definitely my preferred departure city for European flights.

Checking it today I noticed that I had been rerouted
ABQ-IAH-ORD-MUC. Not a good change and no notice at all from United, not even a red schedule change notice online.

No flights are currently listed IAH to MUC that day (although I have the same schedule in Sept and that's unchanged). The United Premier folks could not explain why the change in availability. At least they were able to change me to ABQ-ORD-MUC routing and keep my confirmed upgrades.

Early sign of cutbacks in flights from IAH ? Disappointing if true.

Looking at ExpertFlyer...IAH-MUC operates every day but for whatever reason it just doesn't operate on 3/21 or 3/22. It operates the following week every day, and the prior week. There must be some reason.. a known plane shortage due to a charter, scheduled maintenance, etc, etc.

I also got hit for 12/13. And it doesn't operate on 12/14 either. All other days that week it does.

Or a surgical reduction in schedule on a T/W pair during a low demand period. Especially in the TATL market which is extremely soft right now I'd expect more similar cuts.

Maybe try for ABQ-DEN-MUC with the LH connection if you don't want the extra stops.

Laughing about the question about planning 9 months out. It is unusual and a luxury but I can explain. It's due to a) the joys of being newly retired b) I found a really good price for that departure date (but would have not chosen it if I'd known there were no IAH - MUC flights!) and c) needing to plan ahead for an apartment rental in Italy (MUC - PSA is my next leg).

You might be able to call in and get the direct routing +/- a day due to the change.
