I'd agree, IF it were for one passenger. But, since it's for my wife and I, $2000 each seems pretty good to me.

Is it just to BUD/ATH or TXL as well (from SFO)?

Not finding anything to any of the above via google flights ... probably doing something wrong

It shows up as $1800 "round trip", but eventually prices out at 2x.

Just tried to pull up the SFO-BUD fare, but it seems to be gone.
Also ATH prices at $4K +. Too bad, they pulled it before the end of the day.

Good deal indeed, which has been around for a while. ^
As was under the impression you were referring to the particular fare sale discussed in this thread - hence my question.

Btw, SFO-BUD on mid-March date $ 1829 this a.m., $ 8451 this p.m.

Where are you finding this?
Sorry - I just looked NYC-BUD, where I saw the availability. I don't think NYC-ATH is available

BTW (sorry, slightly off topic), AF/KL are matching this at least out of IAH.

Neither have I - I was stunned when presented with the option - it seems when the itinerary is only UA and LH I was given the option to farelock. However if I included Aegean or Swiss no farelock option was given - I was still amazed that I got the choice so I took it!

My purchase still has not ticketed. OS/LX.

I haven't had to deal with this before. Any insight into the possibility of it ticketing? Advantages / Disadvantages to trying to call in to the 1k desk?

If I can't this to go through, I guess the fare is already gone and I will be out of luck.

I've had pretty bad issues with LX ticketing. I've had them give me a message to wait 24h for ticket to be issued. I had it expedited via phone, only to find out 3 months later my ticket had been "un-issued" somehow. UA ended up rebooking me on UA metal with a more direct routing, which wasn't available at time of ticketing, so I was happy.

I don't think there are any disadvantages to calling. It's not a mistake fare.

I suspect it's the OS segment. My itinerary with an LX segment ticketed within one minute (while I concur with the prior comment that LX ticketing has been a problem in the past, I believe they very recently upgraded to Amadeus Altea).

Thanks Kacee. I think you are correct about it being the OS segments. The LX flights are now even showing seats assigned, so I don't think that the hangup is with them.

After calling, I am now getting doubtful that this will ticket.

Agent said there was no credit card associated with the record, so gave it to them again. Was told to call back after 24 hours from the booking time to have them "run the credit card"(?) because the seats will be released by Austrian by then. Sounds a bit mumbo-jumbo, but I will play the game and try again tomorrow morning.
