737's: Worst First Class comfort in the fleet

Domestic First has never been revolutionary but having flown over the years on UA, the CO 737 First Class cabins are horribly uncomfortable while PMUA A319's, 20's and 757's are all much much more comfortable up front.

Not only do the seats look like they belong in the Smithsonian, but they are so straight that they offer zero support on any area of the seat and in the upright position it feels like you're sitting on a granite slab.

Am I an outlier here or do others agree?

Totally agree and add to that the fact that most of the 737 crews only offer PDB after the plane has boarded or not at all, and hang your coats if at all even after they might have served a drink.

And they're getting worse! The 739 has one inch less pitch than the older 737s in F.

I hope the 737-700s that were just ordered won't have pitch that is similarly shrunk up front.

Yep, it's terrible. The neck support flaps on the seat don't stay in place and don't come up far enough.

On my last 737 redeye, one side of the neck support flaps was broken and wouldn't stay out. And the sides of the seats where you rest your elbows are so hard that my arms go numb after I fall asleep.

Maybe I have low standards but once reclined they're fine (and I think a lot of F seats are uncomfortable upright). Certainly much, much better than any Y seat in my opinion.

Agreed that I like the 319 and 320 better. 1B on the 737-800 is a fine seat though. All the rest are just as you describe.

What do you expect. The pmUA domestic F seats are the same design of the old intl. Business class seats. The pmCO domestic F seats aren't.

I don't think it is just limited to the 737.

I can honestly say that the seats on PMUA aircrafts are more comfortable than PMCO seats. Just think about the BusinessFirst seats on the 777 and 767. PMUA seats are more comfortable to sleep, although PMCO businessFirst seats are wider and has more personal space.
