What would your dream UA 1K benefit be?

Something at least somewhat realistic?

For me, free cancellations and changes on revenue trips (just like awards).

Other ideas (that aren't my favorite):
- CPUs anywhere
- PQMs on award trips (hah—one can dream)
- Mileage-only (no copay) upgrades, (or pay for copay with miles at 2cpm)
- GFL

CPU anywhere and any fare GPU.

I know, never going to happen, but you did say "dream"

I don't want a dream benefit, I just want the existing benefits to actually work. ie to be able to actually use a GPU, even on a W+ fare... if they could fix that, they don't need to do anything else as far as I'm concerned...

A "Double Up" option, i.e., use 2X RPUs, GPUs, miles for guaranteed upgrade. No worries about wait listing or unavailability.

Nobody else in Group 1 except 1Ks and FC passengers.

Ever see Group 1 line up for a 747 at SFO???

I agree with OP. Free cancellations and changes would be great. I spend way too much every year on these.
GPU on any fare would be my second wish. But I feel like if that was the case, more people would be using GPU's per flight, making them harder to clear.

Even if it went back to the days of plenty of upgrades available, but had to buy, let's say, an H fare to get a guaranteed upgrade. I'd buy up a few fare classes for instant confirmability.

Would negate UA's monetization of the F cabin, but yeah, it would be very nice (so saying, sitting here in EWR on the UG waitlist…)

As someone who used to be UA 1K and is now AS MVPG, let me say that the best benefit at my new airline is the ability to cancel any ticket up to the time of departure with no fees, and retaining the full ticket value for a future purchase. Even though connecting in SEA is not 100% ideal for many of my trips, this is a tremendous benefit that keeps me very loyal, and in the end convinces me to pay more for my tickets than i would otherwise.

I understand what you mean, but I'm not asking for a refund. I just wish that I wouldn't have to pay to change or rebook a ticket using credit from a previously cancelled trip.
I've never purchased a refundable fare, do they allow free changes?
