Purchase Miles at Check in....
When you get this offer at the airport are those miles strictly extra miles in your account or do they count toward status? I am getting close and it may be worth the extra spending next week.

Every time I've ever seen the offer at the airport they're just redeemable miles, not premier-qualifying miles -- which are usually an order of magnitude more expensive.

As you're probably aware, though, PQMs can usually be purchased online in connection with a reservation.

When I've checked in at the airport, there's usually an option to add Premier Accelerator, which makes the miles premier-qualifying. So you might be able to buy them there as well.
