I don't normally fly this route on a Sunday, so was surprised to see how elite-heavy it was. I was 6th on the list when it became visible (as a 1k).

1K upgrade cleared at like T-28 for tomorrow EWR-SDQ flight

It was a very light flight. Maybe 40 passengers in econ on an A319. I was the only one in my E+ row before they came and got me. Interestingly, it wasn't the gate agent. It was a flight attendant who received a text message and came up from the aft galley to tell me. After I settled in 1B I got a text from UA. This is my first battlefield upgrade in a long time. Happy to see it is still a thing. When I sat down in E+ the app showed 12/12 checked in and I thought I was going to die at #1.

This is my second SFO CPU in a week. Only my third for the year.

#1 on the list, perp walked by GA from seat 9A to 1A right as boarding was being completed. Rare for me clear on a hub-hub daytime flight. Normally buy-ups or SDCs take the seats.

Report from my son, also 1K:
This morning the LGA terminal was closed to entry for an hour because of a suspicious package. The closure led to him missing the morning LGA-DEN flight.
He was rerouted LGA-ORD-DEN. CPUs cleared on both legs. XN ticket.

Does that mean the LGA-DEN flight left while the airport was closed?

Neither he nor I know the details of how closed the terminal was, but I have confirmed in the news that the services were 'disrupted' and the UA app (and others) said the plane departed while he was prevented from entering security.

Interesting. I had heard about the closure but also didn't know details. I suppose they must not have evacuated the terminal, so the flight could leave with whoever was already airside. Saturday AM is usually light anyway, but even considering looks like the LGADEN flight was an upgrade and empty-Y-row bonanza.

Pulled off another upgrade on this route this past Saturday, and this time not just for me but with the Mrs. Top of the upgrade list again, 2 open seats and got both about 45 mins before departure. On a K fare. Made me 2/2 on the year as a Silver.
Returning MSP-IAD today never a chance, think F was fully booked out. Finishing my year of Silver with a 2/3 success rate, with only 3 attempts being the main reason while I'll lose all status in February.

Awaiting IAD-JAX on Thanksgiving morning.
Curretnlly #1 on waitlist with 9 unsold F seats. Coach is full.

This is my 2nd upgrade of the year. My CPU percentage is dismal. This elite benefit is nearly worthless by now.
