This is driving me nuts. I'm on an ERJ175 tonight IAD-xxx and the flight is J4PZ3IN2 and they haven't cleared a single person since before the T24h mark. It's now T-12h and still I've not cleared as #1. I want to clear only because the earlier flight has PZ2 (Y1) and I want to get on that flight via SDC. Of course that means I'd need SDC to be looking for PZ only and not my original coach ticket (generally 50% for me) but it's worth a shot. No clue why they haven't cleared down to J2 on my flight. The back isn't oversold.

First flight of 2023: LGA - DEN on a slow Saturday and slow January, I am in the double digits on the upgrade list with only a few open seats...lol...at least I can grab a burger from the back.

Got my first CPU today on the 1 PM IAD-RDU A-319. I was on an H Fare but I was still surprised when it cleared at T-96. Haven't had one of those in a while.

Currently 50.00% (1/2) On CPUs in 2023.

My first four flights since dropping from 1K to Platinum have gone better than expected.

2/11 UA 6147 RDU-IAD EMB-175 V Fare: #9 of 25 at Boarding
2/13 UA 3421 BDL-IAD EMB-170 L Fare: Cleared at Gate
2/13 UA 6100 IAD-RDU EMB-175 L Fare: Cleared at T-72
2/15 UA 6100 IAD-CLT EMB-175 V Fare: Cleared at T-72

3/4 isn't bad for the month.

Was any of these trips booked before you dropped status? If they were, you could be treated as 1K for CPU.

2/5 UA 2018 LAX-TPA

Cleared into F 23hrs before departure as a Silver. I was actually #1 on an upgrade list of ~7. First time that's ever happened. 1/2 for CPUs so far this year. I think I finished ~33% last year, also as a Silver.

I know that people say that Silvers shouldn't expect to get upgraded. While it shouldn't be an expectation, it does happen. In my case, it does happen with greater frequency than one might expect.

2/16: UA2644 SAN-SFO (delayed)
2/16: UA2678 SFO-LAS (delayed)
3/19: UA4629 LAX-SAN

Think I would have made UA 2678 without the delayed but UA2644 was because of the delay

Pretty shocked, but 3 of 4 of us upgraded on YYZ-SFO tomorrow. We're typically near the bottom of the list - so even to be anywhere near the top was pretty shocking. Such is the traveling life of a family of silvers.

Surely there are nonstops between SAN and LAS? WN? How many additional hours add to a connection via SFO, even without delays?

February is probably the easiest month of the year to clear upgrades.

That said, congrats!

2/24 SFO-BUR cleared at check-in
2/26 BUR-SFO cleared T-90

First upgrade as a 1k. DW and I were 2 and 3 on the list for tomorrows flight looks like 1 cleared T-36 or something. Almost makes it worth the trek from Oakland to Millbrae.

2/27 ORD - LAX, cleared as a Gold around T-36. This is a tough one to clear, and very surprised to see the UG list after I cleared, there were still 7 seats open with only 7 on the UG list!

As a side note, cleared only 1 of 6 flights over the past week. But this is the one I was most interested in, being about 4.5 hours of seat time.
