There are two versions of this configuration. They have the same number of seats in each cabin, however the rear lavatory configuration is different.

United's website now refers to these configurations as Version 3 and Version 4.

Version 3: United Domestic 777 "High Density" Configuration ("Version 3")

Version 4: United Domestic 777 "High Density" Configuration ("Version 4")

Yikes, I thought it was going to be 32 First Class Seats. This will make some people very very angry on some future flights.

Pardon me if this was addressed earlier...I just saw the seatmap on Twitter and freaked out. Of course there was already 32 page thread on FT!

My question:

What routes will this monstrosity be flying?

Nice - they are ripping out AVOD systems on retrofits that are just a few years old

Seriously UA, get real. Nobody is going to like this death maze configuration.

They managed to get 97 more seats in this than a pmCO 777!
That is simply amazing, and something I hope to NEVER experience.

I will never set foot on board one of these unless I'm in front.

No kidding. Although, even then it's a worse experience; there are -after all- 100 more people boarding the plane.
At least the boarding doors are aft of business class.

But yikes, just yikes!

Wow, 364 seats. And I thought AF's high density 772 were already bad at 316 seats.

So is a 737 or 757 ok with similar width, less pitch, and more seats per aisle? And if this one isn't slimlined, less comfortable seats?

My only gripe with this one is that the 2-side is going away. 3-4-3 versus 3-3-3 isn't a big deal to me, and this still beats a mainline narrowbody.

Harkens back to the 747-100 UA used for the same kinds of missions

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/813468-post3.html

http://frequentlyflying.boardingarea...-747-100-1998/

42F in domestic style recliners and 408 coach.

Looks like we'll continue to have the flying museum aspect of old UA for years to come.

So much whining here about getting domestic widebodies like the 'good old days', well kids....here it is. They weren't glamorous back in the 90s and they aren't glamorous now.

There's at least one sense in which that United map is advantageous to AF. The several two seat rows in the back for economy minus, window and aisle, on either side of the plane, are actually pretty decent. Air France charges extra for those.
