So, most of my yearly miles (~80%) are on 772ER sCO AC#3001 to AC#3016 of 1998 to 2000 vintage.

Is there any information and/or schedule whether or when these planes are being replaced with 773ER AC#3031 to AC#3044?

No. And the CO 777's go through AC # 3022.

Those planes aren't currently scheduled for replacement. Instead, they new 77Ws are expected to fly some of their routes (e.g., to HKG, DEL) and the 772s will continue to fly other routes (and perhaps those as well). In addition, the pmCO 772s will at some point receive the new Polaris cabin as well as the same 3-4-3 economy seating being deployed in the 77W fleet.

Yes, but I don't think I've ever seen the more modern ones.

Okay, makes sense, thanks for the concise reply.

Need to be in HKG, along with other countries in Asia, next summer. Actually found a decent biz fare with a HKG-EWR segment (which came in as a shock, for anything involving TPAC HKG). Hedging against the price increase for the "real" Polaris on the 77W, so I took it. Already like the pmCO 772, but hoping that I will get the 77W by then!

I wonder if the first routes will be officially announced on 12/1 with the soft launch of Polaris

First 77W may have a new tail number:

N58031 may be changing to N2331U. Nothing so far for the rest of the 77W fleet.

I went back to see when the first 787 routes were announced. It seems like the end of August 2012 they announced the domestic routes that would begin November 4th. If domestic flights start end of Jan, they should be announcing them soon.

Looks like UA has transitioned to a different registration convention for the 77W fleet, as all 14 ships now have registrations set aside in the range of N2XYYU, with X being random (as available) and YY being the last two digits of the corresponding aircraft's internal United fleet number.

Bizarre. Who makes a call like that, and why?
