Buy-Up UA MileagePlus Elite Status Promotion - Jan/Feb 2015

I haven’t received an email yet, but the following link gives me an opportunity to receive Premier Gold status for 2015 for $399.
https://www.united.com/web/en-US/app...fers.aspx?SI=1
My stats for last year were:
Total PQM balance at the end of 2014: 49,488
Total PQS balance at the end of 2014: 31
Total PQD balance at the end of 2014: $7,924.00

Seems like a pretty steep price for being short 512 miles.

Interesting find. Made this a separate thread given it will have wide interest. Appears to be targeted.

Typically the pricing has been a program fee + sliding fee based of miles needed.

If there is any further info in the link please post.

Here's more information on the offer.

"Enjoy the benefits of MileagePlus Premier Gold status

Thank you for flying with us last year. As a valued MileagePlus® member, you are eligible for a limited-time opportunity to ensure Premier® Gold status for 2015. In addition, you have a unique chance to jumpstart your Premier qualifying activity for 2016 status.

You will see the update(s) to your account in 5-7 days."

The dropdown box gives me two options.

1. Premier Gold status for $399
2. 2,000 PQM/2 PQS towards 2016 status and acheive gold status for 2015 for $679.

That's a discount from the $2,416 dollars you were short

Your offer is still cheaper than a PQD run would have cost. You'd "save" over $400.

and I thought that the whole point of increased PQD was to DECREASE the number of elites

True, but if you look at these buy-ups, UA is essentially getting pure profit while giving out very little in incremental benefits

As with most things UA does these days, the point is to pick you up by the ankles and shake you until every last coin drops out of your pocket

Ain't that the truth. It's all getting a little tedious now.

Doesn't work for me. Apparently UA doesn't want to sell me the ~53K PQMs and ~$5K PQDs I'm short (as a 1MM) to go up to Platinum.

And here I thought we had something special, United.

Past buyups have been limited to those within xxK PQMs of the next level (I think xx has varied from 10 or 15) and 1K has not regularly been offered. PQDs now offer a new dimension.

Looks like the offers are roughly 15-20 cpm for PQM and/or the shortfall in PQD. Not clear want the min might be but the first post of $399 for 512 miles hints of something in that range.
