A week ago at DEN (-> BIL), UA GA and FA went through E+ looking for E- folks that had slipped up there.
I asked the GA for E+, and was given it free of charge. The FA scolded several customers about being out of assigned seats.
E+ was maybe 35% full, excluding middle seats.

Interesting. I have noticed on a lot of flights recently E+ is empty, F almost full, and E- full. Silvers getting F and E+ empty can't bode well for $$. Where are all the elites. GONE! Now that summer kettles are done flying for year, I suspect 3rd and 4th Q financials to not be so good. Thus the plea "We got your back"

Why are passengers with kids more entitled to Y+? .
Families are more important than DYKWIAS, that's why.

On my last flight MUC-IAD, E- was full, and E+ around 60% full. During boarding, the FA's made at least two announcements reminding passengers that if they wanted E+ they would have to see a FA and pay for moving before doing so.

United a Club Card use to give E+ for free.

Before lie flat I use to find 3 empty in Y and make a bed,

Nothing to mishear. GA announced twice that anyone that wants to sit in E+ for free should approach the desk (verbatim). After brief pause of disbelief pretty much all passengers ran over to her desk and created a nice little stampede.

For clarity - an older pmUA Chase credit card had E+ access, it was short lived and is not related to the present Chase MP Club card.

Why are families "more important"? And why are non-families DYKWIAs?

Let's no go down this well worn path.

I suspect the original comment much further back was related to getting families seated together when there is no space in E- to do that.

But let's not turn this into yet another kids/families/ DYKWIAs /... seating debate, we all ready have too many of those. No the topic of this thread

Nice to know, the new United Club Card does not have E+, but does give access to a few more award seats, and 1.5 per dollar spent.

Both were from the Chase Family.

E+ is given away for free on most flights I'm on. That's how it works. It's totally normal. When E- is full, that usually means that some portion of E+ has been given away. E+ is not a separate class of service. GAs have to assign seats at the gate for this reason all the time.

I do think making this all evident through announcements is not great.

I've been assigned E+ as *G with Air China previously... not sure how that happened.

zoegksf is definitely not flying out of SFO. A Silver in F would be a miracle. (on a cpu)

IAH-MGA, IAH-GUA, on #300 right now SFO-HNL (take a look at this seat map), last week SFO-SNA. Note I am a 1K. I guess it's all luck and timing my naysayers. Oh, and todays GUA-IAH #1503 with two Silvers in F and 2 empty F seats
