Additional GPUs

I have a question regarding the GPU process. Here is my timeline.

Last year I became 1K for the first time and received my normal GPU deposit. When I read the policy, it appears to me that every 50K thereafter would result in an additional 2 GPUs regardless of if it's in the same year of the 1K status achievement.

Is my understanding correct?

Thanks

Should get additional GPU starting at 150K and every 50k thereafter.

I think you're understanding is incorrect. In the same calendar year - yes. Across multiple years - no.

OP, the easiest way to think of this is anything you earn is based on calendar year. So reaching 150K in 2013 would have earned 2 extra GPU's. But on 1/1 each year your PQM and PQD buckets are reset to zero. There is some carryover of benefits through January but earning always starts over.

I've talked to a lot of people who are confused by this the first time they make a higher status.

Right - as of Jan. 1, you started again at zero PQM, and would need to reach 100k for 6 more GPUs (for 2014 flying), and would then receive another 2 for each 50k PQM in 2014.

Thanks everyone, the way it was written online was vague to me as it doesn't specify it's same calendar year.

"Luckily" I have a very poor hit rate on getting these GPUs to clear this year so I still have 4 of them in the bank

Unluckily, your window for using them is getting shorter. You do know they expire?

Yes I know they expire, I was attempting to convey sarcasm, but it's hard to do electronically

I asked in the GPU thread but no one answered.

I just got 2 GPUs in my account yesterday that expire on 1/31/15.

I'm at $10,141 PQD and 65,000 miles.

Why?

My guess is that the GPUs were a mistake and will be removed. I thought I remembered seeing earlier (1 month ago? 2 months ago?) postings to the same effect and the GPUs were removed.

That's what I was thinking but I didn't want to use them right away (even though I know which flights in Jan with R space are that I want!) figuring I would get an answer here or they would disappear.
It was the day that my PDQ went over 10k so I was thinking maybe that's what triggered the flub.

Did you receive a targeted promotion earlier in the year maybe? If not, then yes, it's a glitch and they'll probably take away. Thought I would check on the promotion though as UA seems to be giving those away these days to some fliers.

This was definitely reported a few months ago. I'm sure they will pull the GPU's back soon, sorry JVPhoto!

I'll be over $10k PQD when (if) my last 2 LH flights post. At 38k PQM so it will be interesting to see if I get the GPUs too.

I've had well over $10K in PQDs for a few months but relatively low on PQMs (now around 66k) and qualifying by PQSs. I haven't received anything other thing 1 RPU from a targeted promo a few months back. Finally made it to Platinum today but won't cross 1K for another month or two.

Not that I was/am aware of. For a second I thought something happened to my EWR-TXL-BRU-EWR flights with the TATLs upgraded at booking with GPUs because I noticed the 2 extras when I was doing OLCI last night.
